Writing letters to get your ex back may sound like a good idea at the time but before you sit down and pen your next letter, read this article as we tell you when and why you should be writing to them.

Writing letters to your ex won’t work all the time in fact, on many occasions it will backfire. There is a time to write and a time to present yourself in person as we explain in this article. We have listed the good reasons for writing and the not so good.

The Good

- You can get your point across much more easily.

- You can express yourself better and this is an issue most have when talking to a former partner. They find that letters are easier for them to really express how they feel.

- A letter will help you get over that initial fear and in some cases embarrassment. In other words, if it backfires, you won’t be ridiculed and made to feel silly standing in front of your ex.

The Bad

- While letters may be personal in some instances they can actually be just as impersonal. Many people reject them because they expect the courtesy of at least being able to hear first hand what their former partner has to say.

- While breaking up is sometimes easier to do by letter form this is also seen as a cowardly way of doing the job. This can also be the case when someone is trying make up and while it can have a positive effect in some instances, it can also be seen as a little bit of a cop out.

- If someone is good at writing letters and not good at communicating face to face it’s almost like dealing with two people. Say your ex loves your letter and the way you expressed yourself, what do you do when they expect you to be able to do the same thing face to face and you can’t deliver?

Here’s something to think about if you are good at expressing yourself in a letter but not verbally. If he/she knows you are good at writing and not good at expressing yourself don’t you think you would make more of an impression if you actually surprised them by learning how to communicate as well verablly as you do in writing. In this instance then no, writing letters to get your ex back is not a good idea.
