In Louisiana, down among the Cajun people, there is a word for a little extra: lagniappe.  (LANyapp)  You ask for pie, and Momma gives you a little ice cream on the side as a  little lagniappe.

And who wouldn’t want a little extra?

Many of us are at jobs that bore us, have bills that worry us, or dreams that are waiting for us.  Many of us would love to run our own businesses. The freedom, independence, and extra income are incredibly desirable.  However, the reality of having a successful business is remote for most people.  The capital required, the risk involved, and the time required are challenges most people cannot overcome.

Your solution is affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is a way around the risk and start up costs because it costs nothing to become an affiliate, and the risk is minimal. Affiliates are paid according to the success of their promotions; therefore, how well an affiliate does is in his own hands.  At work he may be dependent on a superior recognizing his talent and hard work, but in his own marketing he is his own master!

This accounts for the great popularity of affiliate marketing.

But make no mistake, affiliate marketing is work, and little income will be made without it!  The “marketing” takes a plan to promote the chosen product, and a willingness to keep at it until small successes start to show up.  Marketing means evaluating the avenues that are bringing in the money, and tweaking and testing the ones that are not producing.

However small, this is a business, and the most successful affiliate marketers treat their efforts like a business from the start.  The wisdom of experienced business people says that when your efforts require money and don’t make any, that’s a hobby.  When your efforts require money and make more of it, then you have a business.

A little lagniappe or a lot; why not create an affiliate marketing business that brings you the extra that means the ice cream with your pie!
